A young boy in Africa becomes ill and his parents hire a failing tour company to fly him to a good hospital. On the way the plane is forced to land in a river after losing one engine during a storm. While the pilots and a doctor are trying to get him to safety the boys condition worsens. He begins having feverish dreams, combing what he sees in the world around him with the many books he loves to read about dinosaurs and mythology.
